February 18, 2010
Gallagher & Kennedy, PA
Valley of the Sun United Way would like to thank the law firm of Gallagher & Kennedy for its continued support during the 2009 Campaign. Through their commitment to help their community in this time of need, the staff, associates and attorneys at Gallagher & Kennedy increased their participation in the United Way campaign over last year. The firm also sent its clients holiday cards, letting them know a gift to Valley of the Sun United Way was made in their name. This gift and announcement helped create greater awareness of the work of United Way, as well as increase the corporate dollars going towards community issues. Thank you Gallagher & Kennedy.
Crescent Crown Distributing
After its inaugural campaign in 2008, the employees of Crescent Crown Distributing nearly doubled their contributions to Valley of the Sun United Way during the 2009 campaign. Employee Campaign Manager Lisa Macfee-Richey surrounded herself with a committee of highly enthusiastic and hardworking Team Leaders. Prior to the campaign kick-off, the team toured the food pantry, early childhood center, dental clinic and senior center at Desert Mission, a United Way partner agency. A 24-hour operation didn’t hold back the Campaign Team from ensuring every employee learned about the impact their gift would make and were asked to donate. Crescent Crown offered employees a 50% corporate match and CCD owner James Moffett Sr. furthered the contributions by offering an additional personal dollar-for-dollar match! Thank you, Crescent Crown.
Maricopa County
Leadership Giving is a key component to Maricopa County’s Valley of the Sun United Way campaign each year. In fact, 32% of employee giving is at the Leadership level. A key element of the County’s Leadership Giving campaign is its Leadership Breakfast. This year’s breakfast was unique, as it included two new activities. Invitees were asked to bring a food donation for a local food bank. An agency speaker representing a food bank shared how the food donation would make a difference for those in need. Each attendee was also given a packet of three “ask” cards and was asked to use the cards to invite others to donate at the Leadership level. The breakfast was so successful that several donors who had already contributed to the campaign increased their donations. Congratulations to Maricopa County for a job well done.
